XGolf Status Report #1 -
2/23/99
In the past two weeks, we have hammered out how we would like the
program will work under the CLI environment. We're happy with the
progress so far, but are really not in a position to release binaries
yet. Why? Because there's nothing there yet. We're working on much of
the guts of the functionality for now.
Some general notes:
- XGolf will utilize an intuitive multi-layered menu-based
interface with the user
- XGolf isn't going to be a one-size-fits-all application. The
admin and user will use different applications in an effort to
make it more secure. We are currently investigating which
functions should be added specifically to the admin program. Any
suggestions from people in the know would be nice.
- Still working on the logo
- We keep thinking that this would be an amazing WebObjects
application. :)
- We might be adding a randomizer to the password cover-up. We
will probably not display characters, but just to dissuade
on-lookers, we might go ahead and display bullets passed through a
randomizer. The number of bullets which show up will never be the
same as the number input. For instance, if you type in 4
characters, 2 dots pop up. Type in a fifth character, and now
there are 8 dots. That's gloss for later, though.
We know it doesn't look like much, but we're doing pretty well. We
are currently hammering out how exactly we want users/passwords to be
stored, how to store the information, and more. Next week we should
have a much better update.
